EDATEC ED-IPC1220 · Chapter 1

Unboxing a compact industrial controller

The ED-IPC1220 arrives with the essentials for bench setup and a dense collection of field-facing connections.

EDATEC packs the ED-IPC1220 as a small industrial system rather than a bare board. Our package includes the orange computer, its field-wiring connectors, external antennas, and a separate 12V/2A power supply.

The main unit is protected by a fitted foam tray. The accessories are individually bagged or boxed, which keeps the removable parts from moving around against the metal enclosure during shipping.

A practical industrial enclosure

The bright orange metal case is compact, but its shape is driven by installation rather than decoration. Two antenna connections sit along the top edge, while a black mounting clip on the back is positioned for a DIN rail.

The enclosure uses screws throughout and leaves the connection labels visible from the front.

The removable terminals are the main event

Most of the front panel is reserved for labeled field-wiring terminals. The faceplate divides them into eight digital inputs labeled DI0 through DI7, eight digital outputs labeled DO0 through DO7, and analog connections labeled A0, A1, and AGND. The black and orange connector blocks pull free from the enclosure, allowing conductors to be prepared away from the unit before the blocks are plugged back into place. An RJ45 Ethernet jack and a compact indicator cluster sit beside them.

Another edge carries the green power-input terminal, a chassis-ground point, one USB-A port, and a smaller terminal group labeled GND, TX3, and RX3.
